Barbara Ann Turk, 89, of West Burlington, died Sunday, May 8, 2022, at Klein Center in West Burlington.
Born February 6, 1933, in Adel, she was the daughter of John
and Fern Mallory Sedars. She married Roger Duane Turk on June 25,
1951, in Ridgeway, Mo. He died May 10, 1995.
Barbara was one of the first ladies to work at J.I.Case. In
addition to that, she worked at Davidson Oil, and along with her husband she owned her own gift shop, was a homemaker, and worked as a waitress at the
old Howard Johnson hotel, Wal-Mart, Montgomery Ward, and served as a
realtor, and was a lector and leader for WW.
She was a member of West Burlington United Methodist Church.
Barbara was an avid collector of dolls, tins and birdhouses. She
enjoyed dancing, reading, completing the daily newspaper crossword
puzzle, and watching college basketball. She was a Chicago Cubs fan, but
would tolerate the St. Louis Cardinals. She wintered in Texas for over
35 years and loved her time spent with her girls and grandkids. She
was known for her wisdom sayings, “No news is good news” and “I may not
approve, but I try to understand”.
She is survived by her three daughters; Judy (Carl) Peterson of
Burlington, Rajeanna Stanbary (Terry Henry) and Mallory
(Tom) Eagen, both of West Burlington; seven grandsons; 13 great grandchildren;
one great-great grandchild due in December; and her companion, Raymond
Graskemper of West Burlington.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Jim Sedar and sister Patricia Richards.
