Ruth Ann McCann, 82, of Burlington, died Saturday, May 11, 2024, at her home in Burlington.
Born Oct. 6, 1941, in Story City, she was the daughter of William A. Leonard and Ruth A. Vance. On Jan. 9, 1991, she married Ronald F. McCann in Deland, Fla.
Ruth was known to enjoy a good game of pitch. When she wasn't busy trying to win a hand in cards, she loved being with friends and family. Her outings with her family could be a vacation, or enjoying the river and fishing. Ruth was the owner and operator of Joe's Inn for 35 years.
She graduated from Burlington High School. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her daughter, Christy, and her husband Chris Beggs, of Burlington; eight grandchildren; Jeremy, Melody, Alisha, Perry Allen, Crystal, Stephanie, Little Linda, and Little Clyde; several great-grandchildren; One brother, William Leonard, and his wife Vicki; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, one son, one grandchild, one brother, and one sister.
The memorial service for Mrs. McCann will be at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) with Rev. Dave Yonker, and Rev. Brooke Robbins officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery, following the memorial service. A time of food and fellowship will be held at the First Christian Church following the burial.
A memorial has been established for the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice.
