Patricia Carol Ross, 73, of Newton, Iowa, formerly of Burlington, died on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at MercyOne Medical Center, in Newton.

Born on Dec. 24, 1950, in Burlington, she was the daughter of George and Mildred Hunter Whitford.

Patricia graduated from Burlington High School in 1968. She was a seamstress for Hollywood movies, sewing costumes for Chuck Norris in the movie Missing in Action, Top Gun and several other movies. Patricia worked and retired from Winegard after several years of employment. She had a little side business sewing wedding dresses and costumes for many people. One of Patricia’s favorite things to do was bake with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed camping, fishing and crocheting with her favorite blanket on her lap. Most of all Patricia loved being with family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters: Tricia (Harry) Lewis and Tanya Zurmuehlen both of Newton; six grandchildren: Alexis Steward, Chantelle (Isaiah) Stout, Danielle Zurmuehlen, James Lewis, Nikita and Tiesha Conner; seven great grandchildren and sister Gloria (Dennis) Givens. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Per her wishes, cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.

A Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 12, 2024 at Burlington Memorial Park.

A memorial has been established in her memory for a local animal shelter in Newton.
