Claudetta Lee Tucker, 73, of Burlington, died Monday, June 9, 2025, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City.

Born July 19, 1951, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Homer J. and Charlotte Stone Tucker. She spent 50 years with the love of her life, Roy Stanley Redd Smith. He preceded her in death on March 15, 2024.

She graduated from Burlington High School in 1969 and attended Junior College. 

Claudetta worked for JS Schramm for 10.5 years and then for MidwestOne Bank for 32.5 years. Later she worked as a seamstress for Today's Modern Hair for about 10 years.

Claudetta was a former member of Lady's & Stitches and Quilts of Valor. She was a very gifted seamstress and loved to sew, knit, crochet and craft. Claudetta also used to make clothes, quilts, blankets and many other things that she would sell in town and online.

Survivors include her son, Stanley J Tucker of Burlington; sister, Alice "Penni" Tucker-Mickens of Des Moines; two nieces and a nephew, Tracie Currie, David (Alice) Robinson Jr. both of Des Moines, Chanell Harrison of Corpus Christi, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her life partner, Roy Stanley Redd Smith, her parents and brother, Steven Homer Tucker.

Family will receive friends from 10 to 12 p.m., Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division St.

The Graveside Committal Service for Mrs. Tucker will be 12:30 p.m. Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Aspen Grove Cemetery with Supt. Mr. Fred Starling officiating. 

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
