
Connie E. Martin, 80, of Burlington, died Thursday, July 21, 2022, at her home.
Born February 27, 1942, in Donnellson, Ia. she was the daughter of Melvin Ernest and Bonadelle Jean Fullerton Raid.
Connie graduated from Burlington High School in the class of 1959 and attended Parsons College in Fairfield, Ia.
On January 30, 1961, Connie married Robert L. Martin. She was a homemaker and secretary for Raid Quarries and the Burlington Fire Department. Connie attended Grace United Methodist Church.
Connie enjoyed her coffee groups spent with beloved friends. She liked knitting, quilting, and sewing and was a member of the First United Methodist Quilters group. She loved watching her grandchildren’s activities which were very important to her. Connie enjoyed playing bridge. She had an infectious sense of humor and loved spreading laughter and joy to everyone.
Survivors include her husband Bob of 61 years; children, Cherie (Hal) Reid of Burlington, Steve (Teresa) Martin of Shell Rock, Ia., and Tricia (Randy) Bolton of Osceola, Ia.; Grandchildren Stacy Martin, Christopher Martin, Emma Bolton and Karly Stoffregen; three great-grandchildren; sister Mary Raid and brother Mel (Jolene) Raid Jr all of Granbury, TX; several nieces, nephews, cousins and her many special friends that she loved like family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Patricia Raid-Harrison and Marlene Ann Raid; granddaughter Ally Bolton and grandson Kaleb Lehman.
The celebration of life for Connie will be 2 p.m. at The Loft on Wednesday, July 27 with Pastor Dennis Coon officiating. At Connie’s request, there will be a time for family and friends to share happy and humorous stories. Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. at Lunning Chapel on Tuesday, July 26, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
Inurnment will be at Aspen Grove Cemetery at a later date.
