
Vernon J. “Pint” Henry, 87, of Burlington, passed away at 3:02 p.m. Monday, May 19, 2025 at Azria Health Prairie Ridge in Mediapolis.
Pint was born Dec. 10, 1937 in Sciota, Ill., the son of Glenn and Madlyn Mae Thomas Henry. On July 26, 1958 he married Ruth Walker in LaHarpe, Ill. She survives.
Pint was raised in Blandinsville, Ill., and graduated from the former Sciota High School. In his younger years, he delivered newspapers in the Blandinsville area. Once finished with his route, he would stop by Tink’s Café for a half pint of chocolate milk. This habit turned into a lifelong nickname of Pint. Shortly after his marriage, he and Ruth moved to Burlington. He worked a long career with Iowa Southern Utilities as a Journeyman/Lineman. He was a member of the IBEW Union.
Pint was also a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association. He enjoyed riding with club members and was active in many charity rides. He and Ruth also enjoyed camping at the Catfish Place Campgrounds in Arbela, Missouri.
Besides his wife, Ruth, survivors include two children: Kelly (Randy) Samberg of Burlington and Jim (Tami) Henry of Burlington; four grandchildren: Brooke, Cale, Mark, and Megan; twelve great-grandchildren and two half-sisters: Marilyn McCarty and Glenna Mae Spangler both of Bushnell, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters: Juanita Starbuck, Rosaland “Tiny” Rodeffer and Rosamond “Tot” Henry and three brothers: Donald, Tim and Charles Henry.
No formal services will be held.
