Mark Allen Helt, 63, of Danville, died Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born March 16, 1960, in Burlington, Iowa, he was the son of Maurice R. and Nancy “Kay” Davis Helt.
He was a 1978 graduate of Fort Madison High School and graduated from Southeastern Community College.
He married Janice Miltenberger on April 30, 1983.
Mark was a delivery driver for UPS for over 30 years until his retirement and a member of Teamsters #218. He made many friends along his route.
He ran two-man Thundercars at 34 Raceway for several years and was a Ken Schrader racing fan. He loved coaching his daughter’s ASA Xplosion Softball team and was very proud of his “girls”. Known fondly as “Tank” he was very proud of his 1972 blue Camaro which he fully restored and had owned since high school.
Mark is survived by his wife; daughter Liberty (Andrew) Taeger of West Burlington; two grandchildren, Karlie Taeger and Howard Taeger; his mother Kay Helt of West Burlington; three siblings, Dee Ann (Mike) Schnieder of Evansville, Ind., Chuck (Carol) Helt and Gary Helt both of Burlington and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Maurice and father and mother-in-law John and Joyce Miltenberger.
According to his wishes, there will be no service. Cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.
