Marlene Jackson, 90, of Burlington, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2023, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born Sept. 10, 1933, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Alvin William and Gertrude Caroline Schmitt Mumm. On July 28, 1951, she married Clarence Robert in Dillon, S.C. He died on Sept. 22, 2010.
She was a 1951 graduate of Burlington High School.
Marlene worked at Sylvania for 9 years, Mendenhall Oil for 13 years, and had various office jobs throughout her life.
She was a member of First United Church of Christ, Red Hats Society, YMCA, and the Burlington Gym. Marlene was a Hawkeye fan and liked soap operas. She enjoyed traveling, going to the YMCA, being involved in many social activities and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include four daughters, Brenda Kay (John) Dahl, Karen Sue (Bud) Carkhuff, Rhonda Renee (David) Hauswirth, and Barbie Ann (Brandy Hamlin) Jackson all of Burlington; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, David Mumm of Burlington and sister, Joyce (Leo) Timberlake of Burlington.
Marlene was preceded in death by her beloved husband, parents, one brother, and one granddaughter.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory. Celebration of Live will be at the Burlington Gym, 129 S. 4th, October 8 at 4 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for First United Church of Christ or Burlington Gym.
