Ivan Kenneth “Ken” Kelly Jr., 70, of Burlington, died Friday, April 7, 2023, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born March 15, 1953, in Fort Madison, he was the son of Ivan Sr. and Sallie B. Shumaker Kelly. He married Teresa Hamilton on July 5, 1997.

Ken worked for Champion Spark Plug for over 20 years until his retirement in 2018.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, being outdoors, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, and tinkering in his garage. His grandchildren were his life and he loved his time spent with them.

Survivors include his wife Teresa Kelly of Burlington; two sons, Michael J. (Mindy) Shelledy of Winfield, and Jeff (Tina) Shelledy of New London; six grandchildren, Taylor (Christopher) Stone of Mt. Pleasant, Asia Shelledy of Moravia, Zachary Shelledy of Winfield, Zander Shelledy of Winfield and Bailey Shelledy and Mason Shelledy both of New London; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Peyton and sister Carolyn Johnson.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 12 at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Montrose.

According to his wishes, cremation has been entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.
