Donald H. Lippert, 95, of Burlington, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2024, at the Bickford of Burlington in Burlington.

Born May 24, 1928, in Burlington, he was the son of William and Hattie Trobee Lippert.

Donald served his country through the U.S. Army decoding enemy messages as a cryptographer during the Korean Conflict. He co-owned and operated Ace Florist and Gifts for many years, retiring in 1990.

He was a member of the Oak Street Baptist Church, American Legion, VFW, American Diabetes Association, Travelers Protective Association, Des Moines Co. Historical Society, and Disabled American Veterans, and was part of the Home Health Advisory committee with Great River Home Care Hospice.  He was a kind and selfless man who had a deep, unwavering faith in God.

Don's family includes his Sister, Betty McPherson; numerous nieces and nephews; dear friend and Brother in Christ, Ed Wisener; and many other friends through the years from his church family and Ace Florist and Gifts.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Clarence, Glenn, Oscar, Ralph, and Walter; and four sisters, Melva, Gladys, Ruth, and Genevieve.

Don's family will receive guests for visitation at Oak Street Baptist Church (1303 Oak Street, Burlington) on Feb. 12 from 9 to 11 a.m.; followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m., also at church.

Don will be laid to rest with his family at Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery following the funeral ceremony.

Memorials have been established for Oak Street Baptist Church and Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice.
