
Ronald A. Gillette, 78, of Burlington, died Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born October 24, 1947, he was the son of Roy and Mary Hartley Gillette.
Ron owned and operated an export/import business from China to the US and Canada to provide services of manufactured products needed by those customers. He grew to love China; eventually meeting his wife of 15 years, Nana. Ron's attention to detail, quick wit and charming personality allowed him success in his business ventures and friendships.
Ron had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and found peace while hunting and fishing. He was incredibly kind and giving, and got a lot of satisfaction from helping others and never passed up the opportunity to do so. His generosity and spirit will be missed, but his memory will carry on through all who love him.
Survivors include wife, Nana Li Gillette; children, Colin Gillette, Aaron Gillette, Emily Martinez, David Gillette; sister, Linda Hoffman-Lorimer; sister-in-law, Ying Chi "Lisa" Li; niece, Man Sum "Michelle" Tsang; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Mary; and sister, Mary Elizabeth Hoffman.
The funeral service for Mr. Gillette will be 10:00 AM Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street with Pastor Dean Graber officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Prugh Funeral Service following the burial.
