Sarah Ellen Grisham, 81, of Burlington, Iowa, died Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born on May 29, 1944, she was the daughter of Harrison and Hazel Jones. On October 6, 1962, in Litchfield, Illinois, she married Robert D. Grisham Sr. He preceded her in death on September 30, 1999.
Sarah had a strong faith in the Lord and a heart to serve and help others, which always made her feel so good. In her free time, she loved to play BINGO, cards with her best friend Betty, whom she considered her big sister. She also enjoyed watching movies, especially Hallmark Christmas movies. This time of year, brought Sarah joy, as it was her most favorite holiday. What brought Sarah the most happiness was being with her family, especially her grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren.
She is survived by four children: Sheila Parsons of Mt Pleasant, Peggy (Brent) Wunderlich of Burlington, Sandra Grisham of Mt Pleasant and Robert (Betty) Grisham of Burlington; seven grandchildren: Robbie (David) Hampton, Rusty Grisham, Sarah Behne, Andi Ver Meer, Bob Myott and C.J. Hesseltine; ten great grandchildren: Kourtney (David) Brooks, Jakell (Jessie) Duerre, Kyleigh (Dalton) Hammond, Caden Edwards, Kailee Sharp, Addison Ewinger, Rilynn Ewinger, Hadley Myott, Rylan Ver Meer and Hayes Ver Meer; two great-great grandchildren: Benjamyn Grisham and Scottie Louise. Also surviving is a brother Edgar Jones, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson Charlie; siblings Harrison Jones Jr., David Jones, Mary Lou Swailes, Eddie Jones and Ronnie Jones.
The funeral service for Sarah will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 29, 2025, at Lunning Chapel with Pastor Marcus Timmons officiating. A one-hour visitation will be held prior to the service at 10:00 a.m.at Lunning Chapel where the family will meet with friends.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 30, 2025, in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in her memory.
