Thomas Warren Dowell, 63, of Burlington, died Friday, Aug. 25, 2023, at his residence.

Born Feb. 2, 1960, in Burlington, he was the son of Cleo Ben and Muriel Thomas Dowell. He married Juliann Curry. They later divorced.

Tom enjoyed doing yard work and growing plants, tinkering on cars and his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He was a very social person, and was loved by all who knew him. He was a kind man and loved the time he spent with his children and family.

He is survived by his four children; Jake Willits of Pensacola, Fla., Kandi Dowell and Kara Dowell both of Des Moines, and Adam Gulick of Burlington; six siblings, Thresa Snowden of Burlington, Roger Dowell of Lomax, Ill., Tanya Chewning of Kirkwood, Ill., Dawn Reverend of Burlington, Marsha Trout of Illinois and Christina McLaury of Mobile, Ala.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Richard Dowell, Randall Dowell and Benny Dowell, one sister, Joan Gerling and half-sister Linda Porter.

A celebration of life with a luncheon to follow on Saturday, Sept. 9 at Union Baptist FGF, 200 Central Street, Burlington. All friends and family are invited. Burial will be in Stronghurst Cemetery, Stronghurst, Ill. at a later date.

Cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.
