Janet Fae Martin, 91, of Burlington, passed peacefully Saturday, July 13, 2024, at the Klein Center in West Burlington.
Born May 24, 1933, in Wapello, she was the daughter of Mark William and Myrtle Agnes Swan Dietrick. She married Thomas Martin on March 7, 1952, and they later divorced.
She worked as a clerk for J.S. Schramms and Walmart. She retired in 1995.
She was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)
Janet was an avid reader and loved reading and learning about history. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and was a proud Chicago Cubs fan. She also enjoyed collecting owls. Most important to her was her time spent with her children and her grandchildren.
She is survived by her three daughters; Stephanie (Stephen) Wilson of Thornville, Ohio, Shelley (Barry) Hopson of Columbus, Ohio and Sydney (Kenneth) Dick of Burlington; six grandchildren, Alteza Kemp, Aaron (Jayme) Wilson, Amanda (Joseph) Rhodes, Arik (Chandra) Wilson, Kelly (Brian) Bonebrake and Kyle Dick; fourteen great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mark William Dietrick and Myrtle Agnes Dietrick, son Michael Thomas Martin and brother Frank William Dietrick.
The memorial funeral service for Mrs. Martin will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 26 at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) 1221 Park Ave., Burlington. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. A luncheon will be held immediately following.
A memorial has been established in memory of Janet Martin for First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
Cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.
