
Larry H. Boothe, 86, of Gladstone, Illinois, died Friday, Dec. 27, 2024. Born Nov. 7, 1938, in Burlington, he was the son of Howard and Lenora Boothe. He married Sherry Darrah, together they raised two children and later divorced.
Larry was a truck driver his entire life and worked for Arledge Transfer and more recently for ABF until his retirement. In addition, he owned and operated the Western Club in Gulfport, Ill. along with Harold Glasgow for many years.
He was an avid quail and geese hunter, so much so that his CB handle was “Bird Dog”. He enjoyed golfing and took pride in maintaining his pool and walking the dogs.
He is survived by his two children; Thomas Boothe and Laurey Ann (Grant) Gray; three grandchildren, Chase Gray, Torri Gray and Dillon Boothe; twin great grandchildren Caroline and Charlie; two sisters, Sandy and Chris and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson Tanner Boothe.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8 at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends. A memorial funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. The Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard will render military rites. Burial will follow the memorial service at Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for the Des Moines County Humane Society.
Cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.
