Carol M. Cluney, 93, of Danville, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2024, at OakView Care Center in Burlington.
Born in rural Des Moines County, Iowa, on May 5, 1930, she was the youngest daughter of Charles and Eva (Anderson) Timmerman. On May 5, 1949, she married Richard Cluney Sr.
Over the years, she worked at various jobs including the Willoware, Basket Factory and eventually spent her last years at General Electric before retiring. Carol really enjoyed traveling, whether it was bus trips or overseas. She also enjoyed flea marketing with her sisters on weekends and adding to her collections of knick knacks.
She is survived by three children: Richard Cluney, Jr., Sharon (Richard) Wyett both of Danville, Iowa and Jeannette Butts of West Burlington; five grandchildren: Trisha and Erick Cluney, Sea (Danielle) Wyett, Kari Wyett, Quinton Smothers and three great grandchildren: Madisyn, Tate and Camber Wyett.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter Kathy Caldwell, grandson Chad Caldwell, daughter in-law Sharon Cluney, sisters: Wilma Stafford, Esther Warth, Frances Cline, Cecil, Neta and Winnie Timmerman and two brothers: Atwood and Arthur Timmerman.
Per her wishes, cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel. A private graveside service at Long Creek Cemetery will take place at a later date.
