Patricia R. Higdon, 85, of Burlington, died Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at OakView Nursing and Rehabilitation in Burlington.
Born on May 24, 1939, in Burlington, she was the daughter of William and Lois Herron Johnson. On June 1, 1958, in Burlington, she married Jimmy A. Higdon. He preceded her in death on April 26, 2016.
Patricia was a 1958 graduate of Danville High School. She worked for IRCTRW for several years. She was well known for her skillset painting, wallpapering, staining and varnishing in several homes in the area. In Patricia’s free time she enjoyed being outside planting and gardening, painting by numbers, puzzles, crossword puzzles, needle point, cross stitch, and embroidery. She had a special gift of remembering everyone’s birthdays and any date that was special. Of all things she loved, her family was her most prized possession and spending time with them brought her the most joy.
She is survived by her three children: Randy (Angie) Higdon and Greg (Katherine) Higdon all of Danville, Iowa and Diane (Jerry) Snelson of West Burlington, Iowa; fourteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and one sister Kathleen Volner. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jimmy, seven siblings and daughter in-law Pam Higdon.
The visitation for Patricia will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, May 23, 2025, at Lunning Chapel where the family will meet with friends. The funeral service for Patricia will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Lunning Chapel. Interment will be held in Prairie Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for the City of Hope Foundation.
