Linda Louise Kirchner, 78, of Danville, entered her Heavenly home Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at Arbor Court in Mount Pleasant. Born June 4, 1947, she was the daughter of William and Louise (Bennett) Rockhold. On June 12, 1965, she married Leroy "Sonny" Howard  in Kahoka, MO. Sadly, Sonny passed away December 10, 2000.

Linda started her career as a school librarian in Middletown schools until their close.  She then worked as a Librarian at Corse Elementary school until her retirement.

Linda was a very kind, crafty and engaging person.  She loved working with her hands, making beautiful cross stitched pictures, crocheted pieces, quilts, blankets and jean quilts.  Many of these items were donated to those in need  She also participated in craft shows with her mother and two sisters selling her homemade items.  She was a great cook and baker, even running a side business selling homemade baked goods.  Linda enjoyed being outside.  She kept a beautiful garden and enjoyed seeing the collage of colors throughout the season as her hard work paid off.  Her garden even had a number of gnomes to add a touch of character.

Linda enjoyed the peace of camping and the solitude of a good fishing spot.  Her fishing spot bears her name at the New London Country Club.

Friends were important to Linda.  Whether she was bowling or serving as secretary of her mixed league, she enjoyed the time she was able to build memories with them.  Her kindness and charismatic personality continued until the end.  She became a favorite at Arbor Court quickly; earning nicknames with residents and staff such as Grandma, Linder and Linda Linda.

More than anything, Linda loved her family.  She truly believed that she found her one and only love with Sonny and cherished her 35 years of marriage.  Her children, grandchildren and great grandchild were her whole life and she was so proud of who they were and what they had accomplished.  Linda's passing leaves a deep sadness, but her memory and legacy will continue through all who love her.

Survivors include her children, Kevin (Meachelle) Kirchner and Beverly (Gary David) Henry; grandchildren, Kelsie Henry, Dalton (Brooke) Henry, and Maddie (Cory) Martz; great-grandchild, David Henry; brother, Ronnie (Nancy) Rockhold; and sister, Peggy Rockhold.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Bonnie Bane and brother, Jerry Rockhold.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

Visitation will be from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.
