Rickey Lee Mehaffy, 72, of Burlington, died Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born June 22, 1951, in Burlington, he was the son of Albert and Mary Uffelman Mehaffy. He was a previous member of Bethany Lutheran Church.
Rickey was a graduate of Burlington High School in the class of 1969. He served his country as a medic in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. On June 22, 2004 he married Janet Diewold in Wapello, Iowa.
Rickey worked as a production union carpenter at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant and was a member of the carpenter’s union local 410. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and being outdoors.
Survivors include his wife, Janet of Burlington; three daughters Angel (Lance) Beck, Leanne Lund and Amber Mehaffy; 10 grandchildren; two sisters Barbara Helsel and Vicki Burnett of Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister Rose Griswold and one brother Carl “Butch” Mehaffy.
The funeral service for Rickey will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at Lunning Chapel with Reverend David Mixon officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be In Aspen Grove Cemetery.
