Stuart Wagner, 94, of Burlington, died Thursday, June 29 at 2:25 a.m.
In keeping with his wishes, he has been cremated. Iowa Cremation is assisting with arrangements.
Stuart was born on July 26, 1928, in Kenmore, N.Y., son of Henry Otto Wagner and Marie Cecil Roth of Buffalo, N.Y.
After graduation from Kenmore Senior High, Stuart enlisted in the US Navy. He served from 1946-1948. He was an aviation electrician in World War II. When service ended he worked as a greens keeper and then at Eastern States Farmers Exchange.
He married Joan Erling Clark on Sept. 2, 1950, at the Church of the Advent in Kenmore, N.Y. In 1952, their son Steven was born and they moved to Huron, Ohio. In 1954, daughter Penny was born. In 1964, they moved to Argos, Ind., where he was employed by Wickes. In 1970, they moved to Bellevue, Iowa. In 1975, he went full-time working with Joan in their antique business of over 40 years. Stuart was a wonderful wood craftsman.
In 2010, Stuart and Joan moved to Burlington, to be closer to Penny’s family.
Surviving are son Steven (Janis) Wagner of Eugene, Ore., and daughter Penny (Jim) Sudbeck of Burlington; five grandchildren, Keli (Micah) Oleson, Sara (Tim) Hoffman, Scott (Kerra) Wagner, Chad (Paula) Wagner, and Emily (Zach) Childs; nine great-grandchildren, Brady Oleson, Elise Oleson, Eli Oleson, Ashlyn Hoffman, Hannah Wagner, Charley Hoffman, Charlotte Wagner, Maley Hoffman, and Ethan Wagner; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Virge Main and Norma Willard; four brothers-in-law, Howard Main, Mac Willard, Don Clark, and Roger Clark; and two sisters-in-law, Jackie Clark, and Norma Clark.
