
Arlan Meloy Bangs, 79, of Burlington, died Sunday, May 25, 2025, at his home.
Born May 28, 1946, in West Hope, North Dakota, he was the son of Gilbert and Melba Bangs. He was a graduate of Newberg High School in Newberg, North Dakota and earned his A.A. degree in Retail Marketing.
He served in the Army during the Vietnam war and continued to serve with the Air Force Reserves, retiring as an EA after 23 years. He was an over the road computer programmer for several years for various businesses and worked in production at General Electric and also for Preferred Security.
He married Becky Harris on July 17, 1993.
Arlan served as the head of Civil Air Patrol and had his pilot’s license. He loved to fly. He was a member of the Masons, American Legion, VFW, Moose, Eagles, the New London Country Club, the NRA, the Big Hollow Shooting Range and the Society of the 1st Division Infantry. He served on the Steamboat Days Board of Directors, the Zoning Committee and was a team lead for J&M Displays for several years.
He loved golfing, camping and the Minnesota Vikings, but most importantly he loved his time spent with his grandchildren and doting on his wife Becky who was his pride and joy.
Arlan is survived by his wife of 36 years Becky Bangs; children, Jeremy Mark Bangs, Dallas Dale Parker, Roxy Jean Myers, Robbie Lee Escher and Rusty Ola Regee’ Bangs; 11 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard will render full military honors at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 15 at Lunning Chapel. Visitation will follow with family to receive friends until 4 p.m.
A memorial has been established for the New London Country Club.
According to his wishes, cremation has been entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel. Burial will be held at a later date in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
