Richard A. Newman, 92 of West Burlington died Saturday, February 26, 2022 at the Klein Center in West Burlington.

Born April 26, 1929 in Johnstown, Neb., he was the son of Arvid and Mabel Anderson Newman.

Richard was a 1st class radar man in the Navy during the Korean War from 1951 to 1955. He completed his Mechanical Engineering degree at the University of Nebraska in 1959. On January 4, 1953, Richard married Marilyn Gustafson in Newman Grove, Neb.

Richard began his career at International Harvester in 1959 in Chicago. His career continued at several companies in the Midwest, concluding with retirement in 1989 from Case IH. After retirement, he was a realtor and owned rental properties.

Richard was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Burlington.

He was a past member of the Rotary Club in Humbolt. He enjoyed fishing and he could fix anything. Richard loved the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the St. Louis Cardinals. “Go Big Red!”

Survivors include his wife Marilyn of West Burlington; children, Debra (Neal) Parks of Burlington, Dana Newman of Houston, Texas, Paul (Deb) Newman of Marion, and Lori (Rick) Fry of Burlington; grandchildren, Ryan, Jonathan, Jason, Ciara, Carissa, Amanda, and Drake; great-grandchildren Damion and Myla; sister, Gladys Krinhop of Fort Collins, Colo.; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

The funeral service for Mr. Newman will be Friday, March 4, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Ryan Cosgrove officiating. Family will receive friends one hour before the service begins. Interment will be in Hope Cemetery in Newman Grove, Neb. at a later date.

Per his wishes, cremation has been accorded and entrusted to Lunning Chapel.

A memorial has been established for Faith Lutheran Church. After the service, a luncheon will be held at the Eagles Club.
