Dorothy Ann Schneden, 94, of West Burlington, died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2023, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born Aug. 10, 1929, in Clark County, Mo., she was the daughter of John and Lelia McDermott Ellison. On Dec. 26, 1957, she married Virgil Schneden in Keokuk. He preceded her in death on Nov. 29, 2008.
Dorothy was a member of Divine Mercy Parish and the Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed cooking, especially for family dinners, and served many funeral luncheons. She was handy with crafty things and enjoyed ceramics, was an avid NASCAR fan, and enjoyed watching her favorite driver Mark Martin. In addition to being a homemaker, she volunteered for many years at the hospital gift shop.
She is survived by her four children: Sister Peggy Duffy of West Burlington, Lisa Coy of Bettendorf, and Terry (Diana) Schneden and John (Janene) Schneden both of Burlington; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren with one on the way and one sister Mary (Fritz) Schneider of Keokuk.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister Martha Self, and two brothers Tom Ellison and Pat Ellison.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Schneden will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5 at SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church of Divine Mercy Parish in West Burlington. The Rev. Father Dominic Nguyen will be the celebrant.
Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in West Burlington.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4 at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends.
A memorial has been established in her memory for Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House.
