Jerry D. Wiley, 75, of Burlington, Iowa, died April 1, 2024, at his home.

Born on Dec. 17, 1948, in Burlington, he was the son of Alvin O. and Dorothy Barkus Wiley Jr. On Feb. 14, 2003, in Burlington, he married Roberta J. Foster.

Jerry was a 1967 Burlington High School graduate. For 37 years he worked for the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in the Powerhouse as a boiler maker and worked for 15 years for Ralph Wilson Trucking. In the summer time Jerry would also do commercial fishing. He was a lifetime member of the Burlington VFW Post #10102, Vietnam Veterans of American and Disabled American Veterans and the Operator Local #150 Union. Every year he looked forward to attending the Howard County Veterans Reunion in Kokomo, Ind. When he and Bert would travel, they always enjoyed stopping at the casinos and playing a few games. In Jerry’s free time, he enjoyed mushroom hunting, hunting, playing cards, going to gun auctions, and trap shooting. Most of all Jerry loved having hog roasts with his friends and family.

He is survived by his wife Roberta; daughter Tracey Wiley and Son Troy Wiley; three grandchildren: Josh Knotts, Bailey Wiley and Bo Wiley and sister Diane Rounds of Burlington. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Jim and Terry Wiley.

Military Rites will be held for Jerry at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2024 at Lunning Chapel by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be held in Burlington Memorial Park.
