Thomas Swan, 58, of Newton, died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2023, at the Newton Health Care Center.

Born June 26, 1965, in Albia, he was the son of Oscar O. Swan and Naoma Kirby Bristol. On Sept. 28, 1985, he married Martha Fleagle and together they had two children. He later married Tracy Fanning in 2000 and they later divorced. &nbsp;

He was a devoted Minnesota Vikings and Iowa Hawkeye fan. He enjoyed playing darts, pool, singing karaoke, especially Elvis and KISS. He was also a fan of Junior Talley, an Elvis impersonator.

Survivors include his daughter, Nichole Gonzalez of Burlington; son, Aaron Swan of Farmington; grandchild, Grace; six siblings, Carol (Clifford) Kingery of Newton, Robert (Mary) Swan of San Antonio, Texas, Geoffrey Swan of Helena, Mont., Teresa (Larry) Buck of Burlington, Bradly Swan of Newton and William Bristol of Brownsville, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Patricia Swan of Newton, and Gwen Swan of Rogers, Ark.; brother-in-law, Richards Closser of Floris and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Junior, Kenneth, David and Steven Swan; sister, Connie Closser and newphew, George "Joe" Marshall.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory. There will be no public visitation. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery at a later date.
