Shirley Jean Hamarstrom, 76, of Burlington, passed away Friday, July 5, 2024, at Arbor Court in Mount Pleasant.
A funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Orion, Ill. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow at the Lutheran Cemetery in Orion.
Shirley was born on Feb. 12, 1948, in Moline, Ill., the daughter of Edward and Dorothy I. Bergstrom Hamann. She married Jeffrey Bruce Hamarstrom on April 8, 1967, in Orion and he preceded her in death on March 10, 2013.
Shirley was a homemaker and had an in home day care for children. She was a former member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Shirley loved watching British TV and reading books especially Agatha Christie mystery novels and watching B-Horror movies. Shirley enjoyed telling and hearing stories as well as listening to Meatloaf and Guns N’ Roses. She had a knack for interacting with children and loved traveling and spending time with her family.
Shirley is survived by her children; Jeffrey (Elaine) Hamarstrom, Lisa (Robert) Lilienthal and Michael (Christina) Hamarstrom; grandchildren; Anneliese (Ed) Lowe, Bobby Lilienthal, Ashlyn Hamarstrom, Jara Hamarstrom, Sophia Hamarstrom, Kenzie Hamarstrom; great granddaughter; Jozie Berges.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Carlene Ramsay
