Joan Martha "Connie" Creighton, 90, of Burlington, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born Dec. 4, 1933, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Harry Otto and Viola Knoll Peterson. On Dec. 17, 1950, she married Robert Paul Creighton at Bethany Lutheran Church in Burlington. He died Sept. 14, 2015.
She worked for Sylvania for 11 years.
Connie was a part of many bowling leagues over the years, as well as a part of the Flint Hills Lady League. She enjoyed playing the Double Diamond slot machine at the casino. She loved her cat, Sammy, who was a wonderful companion throughout the years. But most of all, she loved her family. Connie enjoyed her family visits and family reunions, where she could catch up with everyone.
Survivors include her sons, Mike (Kim) Creighton of Saint Petersburg, Fla., Mark (Mary) Creighton of Pittsburgh, Penn., and Scott (Jan) Creighton of Burlington; three grandchildren, Krista, Tad, and Mitch; two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Demsey; two brothers, Ronnie Peterson of Burlington, and Larry Peterson of Burlington; one sister, Brenda Smith of West Burlington.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two infant sons, Matthew and Garry, one granddaughter, Kasey, one brother, Harry Peterson, and five sisters, Betty, Mary, Patty, Carolyn, and Sharon.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
The memorial service for Mrs. Creighton will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2023, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery at a later date.
