Bobby Gene Newland, 93, of Burlington, died Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at the OakView Nursing Home and Rehabilitation in Burlington.
Born July 14, 1932, in Moulton, IA, he was the son of Eugene and Amy Q. Davis Newland. On February 16, 1957, he married Donna Jean Lile in Fort Madison, IA.
He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, serving during the Korean War from 1951 until 1955.
Bob worked at Champion Spark Plug Co for 27 years.
He was a charter member of West Burlington Christian Church and the American Legion Post 52. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and traveling. Bob loved his church, watching his grandchildren play sports and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Donna Jean Newland of Burlington; three children; Michael (Christi) Newland of Kansas City, MO, Rhonda (David) VanRheenen of Pleasantville, IA, Sara (Ryan) Oleson of Danville; and ten grandchildren, David, Taylor (Amber), Blake, Zachary, Valentine, Ephram, Annabelle, Cordell, Calysta and Owen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Doris Foster, and one brother, Donald Newland.
Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM Saturday, January 24, 2026 at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.
The funeral service for Bob will be 2:00 PM Sunday, January 25, 2026, at West Burlington Christian Church with Pastor Dean Robinson Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
A memorial has been established for West Burlington Christian Church.
