Robert A. Dunkin, 63, of Burlington, died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2024, at his home.
Born on July 8, 1961, in Trenton, Mo., he was the son of Robert M. and Sylviann Mooney Dunkin. On Nov. 28, 1981, in Angeles City, Philippines, he married Rosario Guiwan.
Robert graduated from Burlington High School in 1979 and then attended Southeastern Community College. He was a United States Airforce veteran serving our country from 1980 to 1984. He was member of Divine Mercy Parish. He worked for Exide Battery, Iowa Army Ammunition Plant where he was an Instrument Tech and General Electric as a Maintenance Tech where he retired from. In his free time, he enjoyed shooting pool. He won the City Champ and Iowa State Pool Competition. Robert could fix anything that was broke. He loved to tinker with electronics. Most of all he was the best “papa” to his five grandchildren, which he adored the most.
He is survived by his wife Rose; three children: Robert Dunkin, Rocky Dunkin and Renee (David) Venaas; five grandchildren: Rocky Dunkin 2, Roman, Rachel, Becca and Regan Venaas; seven siblings: Russell Dunkin, Ronnie Dunkin, Pam Fountain, Sheryl Rouse, Bridgette Miller, Sheila and Christine.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Per his wishes cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.
The visitation for Robert will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, 2024 at Lunning Chapel. Military rites will be conducted by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard at 5 p.m. and a Christian Wake with Father Dominic Nguyen officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
