Gregory James Boyles, 73, of Burlington, died Friday, Sept. 29, 2023, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born June 17, 1950, in Burlington, he was the son of James B. and Shirley Jean Rawson Boyles. On July 29, 1989, he married Janice M. Schwind in the front yard of their home here in Burlington.
Greg graduated from Mediapolis High School in 1969 and following that graduated from Southeastern Community College.
He owned and operated George's Lawn Mower for 20 years from 1986 until 2006.
Greg never let being in a wheelchair stop him from living his life to the fullest. He was always busy doing something, whether it was fishing, mowing the yard or working on various projects in his garage. Greg even learned to drive himself around using a van that was modified with hand controls. He will be fondly remembered for his ability to fix anything, including but not limited to mowers, cars, or various other machines. Greg always made himself available to lend a helping hand and dearly loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include wife of 34 years, Janice M. Boyles of Burlington; two daughters, Kenna (JR) Roth of Crawfordsville, and Tia (Nick Sherburne) Boyles of Hamilton, Ill.; three grandsons, Devlin Ramos and Bryce and Brantley Roth; two sisters, Gayle (Pat) Daly of Burlington and Linda (Jeff) Krieger of Fort Myers, Fla.; and many loving nieces, nephews and in-laws.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
Family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, 2023 at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.
