Colete Fleming, 72, of Burlington, died Monday, December 29, 2025, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born August 26, 1953, in De Kalb, MS, she was the daughter of Lamar Welch and Nona Mae Butler.

Following graduating from high school, she attended Hamilton Technical College.

Colete worked for the Rock Island Arsenal and later worked as a dietary supervisor at Fejeruary Health Care in Davenport, IA.

Colete was a member of Faith Temple Church of God in Christ. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, reading, cooking and baking. She loved music and dancing. Her most cherished times were those spent with her grandchildren. She loved her family deeply and enjoyed traveling down south to visit relatives there as well.

Survivors include her mother, Nona Butler; four children, Lavonna Bennamon, Kerry Fleming, Jerel Fleming, and Chandra Fleming; six grandchildren; eight siblings, Johnny Will (Joyce Faye) Butler, Beverly Butler, Peggy Butler, Alvin (Debraoah) Butler, Timothy (Gwen) Butler, Evelyn (Kwasie) Butler, Prentiss Butler, and Larry (Mary) Butler and a half brother and two half sisters on her father's side.

She was preceded in death by her father; step-father, Willie Butler, two children, Corey Bennamon and David JeromeWyndham; two sisters, Myra Jean Butler and Mary Bennamon; brother, Jarvis Butler. 

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Faith Temple Church of God in Christ.

The memorial service for Mrs. Fleming will be 11:00 AM Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Faith Temple Church of God in Christ with Supt. Mr. Fred Starling officiating.
