Shirley Rae Weeks, 88, of Carman, Ill., died Monday, Dec. 12, 2022, at Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice in West Burlington.
Born April 10, 1934, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Charles Bear and Pauline Mildred Williams Duke. In 1956, she married John Weeks in Burlington.
She graduated from Burlington High School and then attended Southeastern Community College.
Shirley worked as a secretary for American Ordinance and Union Supply.
She enjoyed water skiing, gardening, reading, and sewing. She loved caring for her horses and her cocker spaniels. Shirley loved sports, especially basketball and baseball, and was an avid Cardinals fan. She adored her family and spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids.
Survivors include husband, John Weeks of Carman, Ill.; two daughters, Connie Sullivan of Biggsville, Ill. and Susan (Greg) Crabb of Gladstone, Ill.; three grandchildren, Jon Sullivan, Brianna Sullivan, and Eric Osborn; six great-grandchildren, Jarah Davis, Kyndal Darrah, Greyson Sullivan, Lillian Sullivan, Liam Sullivan, and Jaxson Osborn; two brothers, Don (Donna) Duke of Burlington and Dennis (Teresa) Duke of Burlington and sister, Cindy (Dennis) Taylor of Muscatine.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Lamonte Duke.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
A private family service will be held. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House.
