Helen Charity Scheitlin, age 92, of Burlington, peacefully left this world for her eternal home on March 24, 2024 at the Bloomfield Care Center in Bloomfield. She was born in Gilmore City, on Oct. 28, 1931, the daughter of Lloyd and Helen (Rice)Nicholson. She married Kenneth Scheitlin on Oct. 25, 1952. She made the decision to put her faith in Jesus Christ and was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Burlington.

As a young child her family moved to Morning Sun, and Charity later attended nursing school in Burlington. She spent many years working for Drs. Tjaden and Kellogg. Ken and Charity lived most of their married life in the Burlington area.

Surviving are five of her children: Lynn (Danny) Townsend of Bloomfield; Rolyce (Lori) Scheitlin of Remington, Ind.; Bruce (Deb) Scheitlin of Burlington; Lucinda (Russ) Larson of Bettendorf; Rod (Tia) Scheitlin of Mount Pleasant, along with 19 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.

Charity was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth, her son Clair, granddaughter Autumn Biu Scheitlin, and her three brothers, Bruce, Ross, and James Nicholson.

Charity will always be remembered as a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She blessed the lives of all who knew her.

Friends may call at Lunning Funeral Chapel from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2024. The family will not be present. Visitation will be held at the Burlington Apostolic Christian Church from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, March 28 with funeral service to follow at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Oakville Apostolic Christian Church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials will be directed to Bloomfield Care Center.
