Janet Lee Wagg, 87, of Burlington, died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2023, at the Azria Health Prairie Ridge in Mediapolis.
Born May 8, 1936, in Muscatine, she was the daughter of Donald (Doc) and Virginia Hagens Martin. On Sept. 26, 1953, she married George Ivan Wagg in Muscatine. He passed on June 20, 2013.
She was a 1954 graduate of Muscatine High School.
Janet worked for 30 years in customer service for Hy-Vee #1, retiring in 1992.
She was member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed going to yard sales, baking, sewing and spending time on the river. She enjoyed hosting house parties and pinochle games. Most of all, Janet loved watching her grandkids, spending time with her family.
Survivors include her sons, Randy (Cindy) Wagg, and Ron (Kris) Wagg both of Mediapolis; four grandchildren, Ben (Amanda) Wagg, Jenny (Mark Hargrave) Wagg, Eli Wagg, and Caleb (Lynette) Wagg; eight great-grandchildren, Colton, James, Brock, Maycee, Georgie, Oggie, Abby and, Kadence; step-sister, Chris Martin of Muscatine; sister-in-law, Judy Martin of Cedar Falls and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband of 59 years, she was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Larry Martin and her sister, Barbara Hudson.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m, Thursday, Sept. 21, 2023 at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.
The memorial service for Janet will be 11 a.m.,Thursday, Sept. 21, 2023 at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Prugh Funeral Service following the Service. A graveside service will be 2:30 p.m. at Wapello Cemetery.
