Polly Ann Heitmeier, 64, of West Burlington, died peacefully Sunday, Dec. 3, 2023, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born Jan. 10, 1959, in Macomb, Ill., she was the daughter of Robert Nolan and Hazel Irene Grimm Carson. On June 23, 1979, she married the love of her life Royce Eugene Heitmeier in Burlington, with whom she was able to be married to for 44 wonderful years.
She was a CNA at Great River Medical Center for several years. After leaving Great River Medical Center due to health reasons, she worked at Lowe’s part-time as a cashier. She was a graduate of Burlington High School in 1977 and attended Southeastern Community College for her CNA. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and she was very active in their lives with sporting and school events and would always be seen cheering them on at every event. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed playing cards and board games with both family and close friends. She also enjoyed spending time with her husband and taking drives around town to see nature.
Survivors include her husband of West Burlington; her children Stacy Lange of San Antonio Texas, Jackie (Adam) Elmore of Burlington, and Cale (Maureen) Heitmeier of Burlington; her grandchildren Andrew and Emma Elmore, Hayden, Rylee, Gracie and Madison Heitmeier, Kayla, Carter, Jackson, and Grayson Lange; her siblings Debbie Shelor of Kissimmee Fla., Ron (Rori) Carson of Coralville, Randy (Heather) Carson of Greensboro N.C., Becky (Jim) Egerton of Burlington, and Scott (Sharon Huske) Carson of Topeka Kan.; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her son Ryan James Heitmeier, her parents Robert Carson and Hazel Grimm Carson, her brother Daniel Carson, and her parents-in-law Roger and Shirley Heitmeier.
Visitation will be from 12 to 7 p.m. with the family to receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2023, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street, Burlington.
The memorial service for Mrs. Heitmeier will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, 2023, at Prugh Funeral Service, with Vern Reed officiating. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Prugh Funeral Service following the service. Private family burial will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to her son Ryan.
The Heitmeier family would like to give a special thank you to her niece Melissa Figuereo of West Burlington Iowa for all the constant help, love and support she showed over the last several years.
A memorial has been established for the Burlington Fire Department for all the help and care they provided to her and her family throughout her life.
