Beulah Maye Perkins, 79, of Burlington, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2023, at her home following a short battle with cancer.

Born May 17, 1944, in Industry, Ill., she was the daughter of Howard and Mary Parker Frakes. She married Richard “Dick” Lyle Perkins in Fort Madison on March 16, 1965. He preceded her in death on Sept. 14, 2004.

Beulah worked for Kirlin’s Hallmark for 18 years and for Walgreens for 24 years until her recent illness.

She had a deep love and devotion for her family and loved baking for them and sending them cards and gifts on special occasions. She never forgot an important date. She loved bowling with her friends and adored her cats.

She is survived by her two children; Wanda F. (Nick) Hind of Burlington, Bryan L. (Julie) Perkins of West Burlington; four grandchildren, Andrew (Jessica) Olson of Kansas City, Mo., Alexander Schupick of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Braydon Perkins and Jared Perkins both of West Burlington; four sisters, Shirley Willeford of Burlington, Sandy Marquis of Rushville, Ill., Mary Lynn (Craig) Bussanmas of Garfield, Ark. and April Vaughn of Macomb, Ill. and numerous nieces and nephews who were very special to her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dick, brother Henry Frakes, and sister Norma Jean Pleasant.

The memorial funeral service for Mrs. Perkins will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 12 at Lunning Chapel. Pastor JudyAnn Morse will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services.

Memorials have been established for the American Cancer Society, Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice, or the Des Moines County Humane Society.

According to her wishes, cremation has been entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.
