Billy M. Fryrear, 77, formerly of Burlington, died Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at Casa De la Luz Hospice House in Tucson, Ariz.

Born on June 20, 1947, in Macomb, Ill., he was the son of Willard and Helen Long Fryrear. On May 1, 1976, in Burlington, he married Donna J. Zeller.

Bill was a 1965 graduate of Burlington High School. He worked for J.I. Case for thirty years and retired in 2000. One of Bill’s favorite pastimes was boating on the mighty Mississippi River. He was a muscle car enthusiast, having owned a 1968 GTX and Panther Pink Challenger TA. His 1968 GTX was his pride and joy and was featured in Muscle Machine Magazine. Together he and his wife would travel to car shows in Indiana, Ohio and Las Vegas.

He is survived by his wife Donna; daughter Shasta (Jake) Bender of Phoenix, Ariz.; two grandchildren: Shalynn Fryrear and Marshall Bender.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Per his wishes, cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date in Aspen Grove Cemetery.

A memorial has been established in his memory for Shriners Hospitals for Children or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
