Mary Elizabeth Snyder, 88, of Burlington, died Sunday, July 9, 2023, at the New London Nursing and Rehab in New London.
Born Dec. 28, 1934, in Mount Union, she was the daughter of Archie and Cecil Menafee Stotts. She married Ralph "Dusty Roads" Chaulk; he died Jan. 20, 2008.
She was a graduate of Mt. Union High School.
Mary worked for JC Penney for 15 years. She also worked for Sylvania for 12 years, and she worked for 12 years at Jack's Discount Store.
She was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending her time reading, playing cards, and watching true crime stories on TV, and Country Western Music. She dearly loved her Dachshunds and spending time with her friends at Robinson Heights. Mary traveled the Country Western circuit with her husband where she met celebrates like Elvis Presley, Merle Haggard, and Johnny and June Cash.
Survivors include two brothers, Earl Wesley (Peggy) Stott of Burlington and Raymond (Edna) Stott of Burlington; step-sister, Ilene Howell of New London; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Gene (Bonnie) Stotts, Harold, Jimmy, and Bobby Stott.
The Graveside Committal Service for Mary will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at Trinity Cemetery with Pastor Peggy Stott officiating. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Prugh Funeral Service following the burial.
A memorial has been established for Mt. Pleasant Hospice.
