Cecil W. Schenk, 95, of Burlington, Iowa, formally of Yarmouth, died on January 26, 2026, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington, Iowa.

Born on June 16, 1930, in Burlington, Iowa, he was the son of Ray Walter Schenk and Bertha Marie (Wunnenberg) Schenk. He graduated from Yarmouth High School in 1949. In 1953, he married Nevah Barkus. She preceded him in death on July 27, 2019. On November 22, 2021, he married Betty Archibald in Texas County, Missouri.

Cecil worked as a farmer and owned his own crop duster business. He attended the Heritage Baptist Church. Cecil was a member of the Flying Farmers Association. He loved farming, crop-dusting in his plane, taking trips, and his mother’s peach cobbler. 

He is survived by his wife, Betty Schenk of Burlington, his son, Curtis (Kim) Schenk of Burlington, his step-children: Wayne Salzwedel of Burlington, Michael (Jolene) Salzwedel of New London, and Wanita Holmes of Gilbert, Arizona, and two grandchildren, four step grandchildren, five step great grandchildren, and one sister, Kathryn (Charles) Benz, of West Burlington. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Nevah, and his sister, Virginia Bice.

The funeral service for Cecil will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 29, 2026, at Lunning Chapel with Pastor Mick Hall and Pastor Bill Meyers officiating. A one-hour visitation will be held before the service at 9:00 a.m., where the family will meet with friends. Burial will take place in Trinity Cemetery in Mt. Union, Iowa.

 A memorial has been established in his name at Heritage Baptist Church and SEI Hospice House.
