A Burlington man was arrested on Sunday after an investigation into an allegation of sexual abuse.
On Dec. 12, 2021, Burlington police arrested Harry Tilala, 80, of Burlington for sexual abuse in the third degree. The investigation resulted from a complaint made on July 27, 2021.
According to police records, at approximately 3 a.m. on July 27, officers were dispatched to the Howard Johnson hotel, 2759 Mount Pleasant St., in reference to a sexual assault. Officers arrived on scene and spoke with a woman and her minor daughter; the woman stated her daughter had been sexually assaulted by Tilala, the owner of the hotel. Detectives interviewed Tilala and executed a search warrant at his apartment, which is located on the hotel premises.
Cash bond in the amount of $10,000 was posted on Dec. 14, 2021.
