
Darsi Lynn Hodgkin, 59, of Burlington, died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2024, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born Feb. 19, 1965, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Joann Lee Bell Smith.
She was a graduate of Burlington High School and obtained her Associate's degree from Southeastern Community College.
She worked for a time at Stackers and Green Lantern bars, did professional cleaning for rental apartments and worked at Addison Mechanical.
Darsi loved to be outside, mushroom hunting, spending time on the river and at her family's cabin. She liked to garden and would can vegetables she grew each year. She was very social and loved spending time with friends, going to parties, playing BINGO, and attending blues concerts at The Washington with her mom. Darsi also loved cooking homemade chicken and noodles and enjoying a good piece of cake with extra frosting.
Survivors include her mother, Joann Lee Smith of Burlington; daughter, Madisyn Weyls of Burlington; sisters, Dawn Howerton and Dede Samul; step-sisters, Debi O'Malley and Patricia Pedon; step-brother, Jeff Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Douglas Smith, grandparents, Lawrence and Vera Bell, uncles, Robert and Terry Bell, aunt, Sharon Phillips and cousin, Steve Morrison.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
