Amy Lin Voigt Essig, 50, of Springfield, Ill., died on February 21, 2022, at home surrounded by family and friends.

Born June 5, 1971, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Ernest and Linda VanWinkle Voigt. On September 18, 2010, she married John R. Essig at Grace Lutheran Church in Springfield, Ill.

Amy graduated in 1989 from Burlington High School as a member of the National Honor Society. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Western Illinois University with a degree in accounting and a minor in finance while achieving memberships in Phi Eta Sigma, Freshman Honor Society, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, and Beta Gamma Sigma, school of business. She achieved her CPA certification in May 1997.

Amy started her career with Deloitte in Springfield and later joined GEO.S. Olive & Co., LLC. She continued her career in accounting for Bunn-o-matic, completing 19 years of service and Hanson Professional Services, Inc. from May 2013 to present.

Amy was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Springfield, Ill. She enjoyed travel, all types of music, especially Barry Manilow, spending time with family, she loved animals, especially her kitties. Her Zumba club friends became a very special part of her family.

Survivors include her parents, Linda and Ernie Voigt; husband, John Essig; stepson, Ryan Essig; and stepdaughters, Michelle Essig and Meghan Essig; one uncle and cousins.

Amy was preceded in death by her grandparents, her two aunts, and an uncle.

Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 28, 2022, at Lunning Chapel, in Burlington. The funeral service will follow visitation at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Dean Graber officiating. Internment will be at Aspen Grove Cemetery following the service.
