Sally J. Bennett, 84, of Carman, Ill., died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2025, at her home. Born Jan. 29, 1940, in Nauvoo, Ill., she was the daughter of Henry and Arlene Robinson. She married Donald W. Bennett on Dec. 5, 1959, in Nauvoo, Ill. He preceded her in death on Oct. 13, 2003.
Sally owned and operated her own beauty shop and later worked for Farmers & Merchants Bank and Trust and Catfish Bend Casino.
She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Burlington.
She loved her work at Catfish Bend Casino and enjoyed visiting with the patrons. She enjoyed making floral arrangements and ceramics and doing hair.
Survivors include her two children; Kim Hubbard (Mike Mertens) of Burlington and Larry (Robin) Bennett of Carman, Illinois; six grandchildren, Heather (Justin) Colclasure, Robyn (Shannon) Brown, April (Daniel) Wiggins, Nicole (Josh) Covert, Michael Bennett and Joann (Kory) Thomason; 14 great grandchildren; five sisters, Barbara Bolton, Elizabeth Kline, Sharon Dodson, Susie Marshall and Linda Tripp; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, granddaughter Sally Ann and great grandson Korey.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15 at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 16 at Lunning Chapel. Pastor Orin Thomford will officiate. Burial will be held in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
