Mary Sue Moore, 81, of Burlington, died Sunday, August 16, 2026, at her home at Addington Place. Born November 20, 1944, in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, she was the daughter of Joseph and Ida Marie Willey Brown.
She was a graduate of New London High School.
She married Duane H, Moore on November 18, 1967, in Burlington, he proceeded her in death May 24, 2024.
She worked for Sylvania, General Electric and more recently for Hagerla’s. She enjoyed tending to her flowers, feeding the hummingbirds, watching the Young and the Restless and Dancing with the Stars. She was a great baker and cook and always made the BEST birthday cakes for her family. Her greatest joy was spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her two children; Michele (Jamie) Lohmann of Burlington and Chad (Betty) Moore of Mt. Pleasant; two grandchildren, Zachary (Lindsey Reeves) Lohmann of Urbandale, IA and Kylee (Trenton Gebhardt) Lohmann of Burlington; two brothers, Daryl (Cindy) Brown of Burlington and Bill (Jan) Brown of New London. Also surviving are brother-in-law Dick (Joyce) Moore of Danville and sister-in-law Beverly Shepard of Danville and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Duane, two brothers Dan (Florence) Brown and Don (Anna) Brown, two sisters, Joan (Ralph) Septer and Dorothy (Gene) Blanchard and brother-in-law James Shepard.
The graveside funeral service and burial for Mrs. Moore will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 14th at Long Creek Cemetery, rural Danville. The Rev. David Mixon will officiate.
A memorial has been established for Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice.
