Shannon Lee Wilson, 65, of Burlington, IA, left this world to meet our Lord Jesus Christ, on October 1, 2026, at Great River Hospice House, from complications of pneumonia. Shannon fought a brave fight after suffering complications from his heart and double lung transplant.
Shannon was born on January 27, 1961 in Winner, South Dakota to Chalmace G. Wilson and Delores (Dee) Blakkolb Wilson. He was an ornery child and gave his parents and older siblings a run for their money.
Shannon developed a love and a skill for golfing and became a darn good player as he grew older. He had a great drive and went on to play in the State tournament in 1977.
Later teen years saw him working in construction and also on the railroad laying rail. He then traveled to Arizona to attend ASU and earned his degree in drafting. He took design jobs all over the lower 48 working for companies such as IBM and Sperry Flight Systems. Eventually, in 1993, he took a contract job in Burlington at J.I. Case. Soon after, he was introduced to his future wife and partner in crime, Cindee Crabb Schmidt. They married on September 4, 1999 in Hannibal, MO. Shannon and Cindee were together 32 years and experienced many happy times working, playing, laughing, and enjoying life. Shannon loved to golf, build wren houses, spend time at his farm, and doodling. He was also a co-owner and operator of Chicks on the Square in Macomb, IL and Chicks on the River in Quincy, IL. Shannon was always the life of the party and the biggest duck in the puddle. He was a generous person with his time, his laugh, and his
love.
Shannon is survived by his wife, stepson Gregory (Tara) Schmidt, Blanchard, IA; stepdaughter Sarah (Andrew McCartney) Schmidt; his sister Tracee (Greg) Ford, Cody, NE; and sister-in-law Margo Wilson, Phoenix, AZ. Nieces Shae (T.J.) Schneider, Parker, CO; Teeyl Ford, Cody, NE; and Jais (Jed) Connealy, Whitman, NE. Nephews Layne (Arielle) Ford, Ord, NE; Reed (Mary Kay) Ford, Cody, NE; and many great nieces and nephews.
Shannon was preceded in death by his parents and brother Linc Wilson.
Shannon was a simple person who loved color. If you plan to attend, feel free to dress casually and colorful.
