Mary B. Poffenbarger, 64, of Burlington, Iowa, died Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born on August 29, 1961, in Burlington, Iowa, she was the daughter of Robert and Marian (Philabaum) Huppenbauer. She married Jim Poffenbarger. Of that union they had two children Kara and Brent. They later divorced.
Mary was a 1979 graduate of Burlington High School. She worked for the City of Burlington as a secretary for fifteen years. Mary had a kind, gentle sprit and was one of the easiest people to talk to. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, especially her best doggie friend Duggy.
She is survived by her son Brent Poffenbarger of Burlington; two grandchildren: Brock and Grady Brookhart; two brothers: Bob (Nancy) Huppenbauer and Tom (Patty) Huppenbauer all of Burlington. She is also survived by three nieces and three nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter Kara.
Cremation has been entrusted and accorded to the care of Lunning Chapel.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 25, 2025, in Aspen Grove Cemetery with Rev. Dave Yonker officiating.
