Maria Doud, 97, of Burlington, died Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2023, at Azria Health Prairie Ridge in Mediapolis.
Born June 6, 1926, in Foggia, Italy, she was the daughter of Angelo and Concetta Chinquepalmi. She was the eldest of seven children. She married Ralph Doud in Foggia, Italy, in 1945.
She came to the United States as a war bride in 1946 and lived most of her life in Keosauqua. She worked at Van Buren County Hospital as a nurse’s aide for 30 years.
She had three children, Angelo (Rhonda) Doud of Burlington, Donna (Donny) DeJaynes of Gladstone, Illinois and Tony (Rhonda J.) Doud of Burlington.
She loved her family, dancing, and music.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 2000, and her son Tony and granddaughter Samara in 1988.
A private family gathering will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Pittsburg Cemetery, Keosauqua.
According to her wishes, cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.
