Ronald R. Eibes, 87, of Burlington, died Monday, Dec. 25, 2023, at the New London Care and Rehabilitation Center in New London.

Born Nov.  12, 1936, he was the son of William John and Alice Fern Williams Eibes.  He was a graduate of Sperry High School.

He served in the Army during the Cuban missile crisis.  

He married Joyce June Walker on Sept. 16, 1961.  She preceded him in death on June 24, 2005.

Ron worked as a foreman for Lehigh Leopold for 35 years until they closed, he then began working as a foreman for Grimm Brothers Plastics for 14 years until his retirement in 2003.

 He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Burlington Moose Lodge #579, and Burlington Eagles Aerie #150.

Ron loved playing softball and did so from the age of 20-50 years old, he enjoyed bowling and bowled in leagues for many years from 1960-1980 and coached little league.  He never missed attending an activity or sporting event for his children and grandchildren. He loved attending races at 34 Raceway and listening to live music locally at the Capitol Theatre, Burlington Memorial Auditorium, the Southeast Iowa Municipal Band at Crapo Park, and yearly at Old Threshers and Branson, Mo.  He especially loved going out to dinner with his family to Napoli's, Gator's, and the Hungry Bear and cherished his time spent with them.

He is survived by his three children; Kevin (Libby) Eibes of Clarksville, Arkansas, and Rhonda (Dave) Wynn and Sonya Eibes-Belger both of Burlington; six grandchildren, Scott (Katrina) Eibes, Elly (Stephen) Houserman, Drew Wynn, Lexi (Drake) Ioerger, Landon Wynn and River Belger; five great-grandchildren; Summer Breeding-Eibes, Emmitt Houserman, Silas Houserman, Clara Housermaan, and Palmer Ioerger; sister Bonnie Wixson of Eldon, Missouri and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Joyce, sister Marjorie Witte, and brothers Francis Eibes, Wesley Eibes, and Marvin Eibes.

The funeral service for Mr. Eibes will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan 5 at Lunning Chapel.  The Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military rites.  Interment will be in North Walker Cemetery, rural Sperry, Iowa.  The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the funeral services.
