Mary Elizabeth Brown, 49, of Burlington, died Friday, Oct. 1, 2021, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born March 12, 1972, she was the daughter of Larry D. and Sheila Y. Russell Thompson. Chris Dowell was Mary’s special companion for 15 years until 1999. She married Randall Brown in 2003; they separated in 2018.
Mary graduated from Burlington High School in 1990, and Southeastern Community College in 1992 with an Associate of Arts degree in accounting. She worked for McGladrey for 17 years, TDT for 10 years, and Martini’s.
She was raised in the Open Bible Church.
Mary was a member of the Art Guild. She loved to paint, do crafts, watch WWE wrestling and criminal shows, camp with friends.
Surviving are her children, Haley (Brad Storie) Dowell of Ava, Mo., Justice Lee Brown, Gavin Brown, Zack (Caitlin) Spindlow and Jordan Brown, all of Burlington; her mother of Burlington; one brother, Rick (Jeanie) Thompson of Unionville, Mo.; one sister, Tina (Darrow) Lillie of Burlington; and one grandson.
She was preceded in death by her father and grandparents.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2021, at Lunning Chapel. The Rev. Shane McCampbell will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2021, from 5-7 p.m.
A memorial has been established for Mary’s children.
