Leo Wayne Scott, 91, of Burlington, formerly of Sperry, died Monday, July 15, 2024, at his home at Addington Place of Burlington.

Born Feb. 9, 1933, in Sperry, he was the son of Edmund and Josephine Hilda Scott. He married Ruby Sutcliffe on Feb. 12, 1953. She died Oct. 27, 2020.

Leo was a life long farmer and worked as a Supervisor for the US Gypsum plant, retiring after 30 years.

He was a member of Harmony Bible Church and a lifetime follower of Jesus Christ.

Leo lived for duck and geese hunting, and was a perfectionist when it came to his lawn, as he thoroughly enjoyed mowing the grass. He enjoyed woodworking and fishing, but more than anything loved his time spent with his family. He was a comedian and had a great sense of humor.

He is survived by his three children; Sheila (Jim) Flietner of Burlington, Alan (Julie) Scott of Bloomfield, and Monte (Kathleen) Scott of West Point; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ruby, son Troy Scott, grandson Dallas Scott, granddaughter Kerrie Scott, brother Paul and sister Rosemary.

The memorial funeral service for Leo will be 3 p.m. Sunday, July 21 at Lunning Chapel. Pastor Dan Dingus will officiate. Burial will be held in Kingston Cemetery, rural Kingston, at a later date. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service on Sunday.

According to his wishes, cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.
